Showstoppers Ringcraft

Let me introduce myself, I was born into the World of Showing Dogs. My Mum showed Lhasa Apso's and Hungarian Puli under the ’Setrof’ Affix. When I was a youngster I used to attend the Northampton & District Canine Society Ringcraft with my mum. Malcolm Crossland, who bred and showed Pointers, was my teacher and he allowed me to show one of his Pointers, Lea, in JHA. He was a strict teacher but I enjoyed every minute. I was 12 years old when mum knew I was serious about the hobby and let me have a Lhasa Apso, "Setrof Rajah" aka Boomer. We competed in the breed classes with some success.

I met Marion Bye 20 years ago when I took my beloved Chow Buzz to her ringcraft. She is an amazing lady and what fun we have had at the ringcraft. I cannot remember the exact year Marion asked me to help out at Ringcraft. Rosie was very small and Marion asked me to help so I could come to ringcraft as all my dogs were trained and I enjoyed the time out. The rest is history, Marion is an amazing lady and has taught me and many others some great techniques of showing. So many still stick in my head and will never ever be forgotten.

I have owned and bred Champion Chow Chow plus ticket winners. I Judge Chow Chows to Championship Level. I was on the Committee of Bedford & District Canine Society and worked my way up to Secretary. I was Treasurer of ‘The Chow Chow Breed Council’ for numerous years and I am also honoured to be the Secretary of the second oldest Chow Breed Club ‘The Chinese Chow Club’.

My Daughter also enjoys showing as a hobby and is now part of our Shasadee affix and an important part of the our Show Team. She has achieved Top Utility Young Kennel Club Handler 6-11 at Crufts and is a great success in the Breed Ring with her dogs.
